Live. Laugh. Lay Down in a Ditch.

Live. Laugh. Lay Down in a Ditch.

I’m Stephanie Farrar, LMT, and I think it’s weird when people write about themselves in third person.

I’ve been practicing my unique style of bodywork since 2010. Part sports massage, part myofascial release, all focused on decreasing pain and improving mobility. My favorite issues to tackle are migraines, neck pain and the needs of strength athletes, but anyone looking to feel and move better has a place on my table.

About Your Session:

Please arrive on time. If this is your first session, I will have an intake form for you in the waiting area. (If you’d like you can fill this out ahead of time by clicking here.)

My schedule is designed to allow ample time between clients for discussing treatment plans and disinfection - if you arrive late I may have to adjust session time accordingly. If you are lost or running late pls call or text at 401.595.2543 After going over your goals for the session, treatment techniques, and any questions you may have, I will step out and give you time to get on the table. You will undress to your comfort level* and get on the table, under the sheet. Both temperature of the table and the room can be adjusted to your liking. During your session I will check in periodically and adjust pressure, technique, etc as needed. You are welcome to ask questions, give feedback, or just zone out, entirely up to you.

Despite my reputation my main aim isn’t to torture you, so please speak up if anything is to intense, painful, or feels weird.

After your session:

I will step out and give you some time to come back to reality and redress. Be careful getting up off the table, you will probably be a little lightheaded! Everyone reacts differently to bodywork. You may be energized, you may be exhausted.

Take it easy for the rest of the day if you can.

It is possible to experience soreness after your session, especially if this is your first time receiving “deep tissue” work. This will settle out the next few days and you will begin to feel the benefits of the treatment progressively. Keep in mind that the longer you have had an issue, the longer it will take to resolve. Chronic issues often require a period of more frequent treatment followed by periodic maintenance sessions. Bodywork can be extremely helpful but it’s not miraculous! Addressing movement patterns/postural habits that perpetuate pain and immobility is key - I’ve got great recommendations for experts in other modalities, just ask!

Location

My office is at 354 Broadway, above DeCesare Eye Associates and dangerously close to Seven Stars Bakery. Client parking is available behind the building (entrance on Knight St) or you can park right on Broadway. Please use the front entrance, you’ll see my door at the top of the stairs.

*This is the phrasing we were taught in massage school, but it’s kind of vague, especially for someone receiving bodywork for the first time. How undressed you get is entirely up to you. Some people take off everything, some people remain completely clothed. Many techniques/specific issues benefit from less clothing, but I am happy to work with/around whatever makes you feel safe/comfortable, no questions asked. As I work I will only be uncovering the area I am focused on, the rest of you will remain tucked in under the sheet.
